New trade stats: Lost EU trade driving fall in imports

Responding to the ONS October trade statistics, Alison Williams, member of the UK Trade and Business Commission and Global Head of Data at DunnHumby, said:

“Trade with the rest of the world is clearly not compensating for the lost trade we continue to suffer because of leaving the single market, and this means less choice for British consumers and less income for British businesses.

“Instead of striking trade deals with far flung countries that are both environmentally damaging and unlikely to boost economic growth, the Government must work to improve their flawed deal with the EU and give our economy the shot in the arm it so badly needs.”
