Groundhog day for struggling businesses - UK Trade and Business Commission response to NI Protocol announcement

Responding to the announcement from the UK Government that they are prepared to unilaterally override the Northern Ireland Protocol, Stephen Farry MP for North Down, who sits on the UK Trade and Business Commission said:

"It's groundhog day for the many businesses hit by expensive red tape and staff shortages who once again have been given posturing rather than practical help.

“The government needs to come clean on why they are resisting calls from the UK Trade and Business Commission for a veterinary arrangement with the EU as a long term solution.

"Their continued refusal is only increasing concerns that they are preparing to cut food and animal welfare standards in future trade deals."
